Sandy received her BSN from The University of Utah. She served as a Registered Nurse at the University of Utah Medical Center Surgical Intensive Care Unit where she received specialized training in the care of multi-trauma patients. She received her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah. She has been working with the Orthopedic trauma team since 2013.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery.
